Founded in 2010, the CIHL has quickly become one of Asia’s premier ice hockey leagues with teams representing Hong Kong, Kowloon, Macau and South China. The league is structured similarly to the British Columbia Hockey League (BCHL) of the Canadian Junior Hockey League, providing new opportunities for high-level, contact hockey among participants. The league’s mission is to revive and expand interest in ice hockey in Hong Kong and China, provide a world class entertainment product for its fans, establish a viable Chinese professional league over time and strengthen Chinese hockey player development in order to achieve global competitiveness.

The CIHL proudly teams up with corporate partners to deliver programs that enrich the community as a whole. With the continued support of league sponsor Royal Bank of Canada (RBC), the CIHL maintains its core commitment to developing Hong Kong's next generation of ice hockey players through the RBC Adopt-a-School program. Over 300 students will participate in the program this year as Hong Kong students and teachers are provided with complimentary tickets to a fun filled evening of Hong Kong ice hockey. Students are selected to take part in the Disney Shootout, and awarded prizes courtesy of Disney.

The program provides a unique learning opportunity for students to enhance their learning through sport and further their hockey knowledge while CIHL players are heavily involved in the teaching and promotion of the sport.

RBC also supports the CIHL Intern Program which makes it possible for elite level Canadian hockey players join the CIHL for the 2012-2013 season and gain valuable work experience at a Hong Kong company.development as well as many other charitable causes. Through their weekly visits to local elementary schools, players encourage literacy and spread positive messages to today's youths.

The CIHL has many supporters and corporate partners, including the Quam Financial Services Group, which provides financial services to corporations and individuals in Hong Kong and China and AsiaXPAT, the region's leading digital platform for affluent Asian and expatriate professionals which have generously loaned their names to the Quam Hong Kong Tycoons and the AsiaXPAT Kowloon Warriors for the 2012-2013 season. Air Canada, Canada's largest full-service airline and the largest provider of scheduled passenger services has generously lent their name to the league’s pucks as the Official Game Puck Sponsor. The Roundhouse - Kitchen + Beer is the CIHL's Official Bar for its post-game celebrations.
